This is the rough copy for the 3rd full scene that will be used for my trailer by using select parts. Its the scene where we see Matt introduced for the first time who rescues Rose from Dacrual. I do know that is says its the 4th scene as it was the 4th written yet I took out a scene since it didn't add much to the over all project. The point of this scene is to give the audience a quick glance of Matt, the other protagonist of the trailer, and portray him as different to Dacrual to show the two different sides to vampirisim. It will use the scenes of Matt's stabbing of Dacrual and his rescue to help show that the two characters trust each other within the trailer. A problem is that it has is that it's not very action based which helps give the trailer weight and more exciting but later scenes have more and some extra shots could be added to help fill out the trailer.
So in all, there is little that needs to be changed just some possible dialogue shortened and a few extra scenes to help increase the action so we can see more elements of them being supernatural entities and fit in with current vampire film trailers. In some of my old storyboards, there was originally going to be a fight scene between Matt and Dacrual but I removed it due to the potential difficulty of filming it. However, I could shot brief segments of it so I can edit them together and make it look like there was a brutal fight which ends the same way with the vervain-coated knife. Example could be like scene of Matt taking a swipe at Dacrual, flash to white then another scene of possibly Dacrual picking Matt up by the throat etc. then after Matt is beaten by the much stronger Dacrual, the knife scene happens with Matt grabbing Rose and running off.
As with last year, you are working at a high level, with a lot of detail obvious. I can't fault the planning you are doing, although I would like to see you commenting occasionally on any issues you are facing (for example, have you been able to keep to your schedule? How is your project evolving?)
ReplyDeleteCruially, you need to make sure that you are maintaining a focus on key concepts and technical aspects. How does your planning compare to the research you have done? In particular, as you develop your idea about your trailer, how does this link to the trailers you looked at as part of your research? You need to consider how your work is developing in terms of, for example, narrative and genre codes. You should also consider the technical aspects - planning ahead might help you mitigate problems down the line.
I would like to see you combining your obvious commitment to the script with your more detailed planning for the trailer. You've clearly thought about this, but you need to make sure that your documentation clearly represents this (for example, updated storyboards). It would also be useful to see some of your "dailies" (work in progress) to get a flavour of what you've done (according to your schedule, you should have done almost everything apart from pick-ups).
It's crucial that you keep an eye on the exam and how this ties into your coursework. You might want to include a few blog entries which explore your developing skills - in particular, how different it is working on your own, areas in which you feel you have improved or changed etc.?
At the moment, the blog (if maintained at this level) will be bottom L4, but with a little tweaking could be better.
